Coast to coast. Rain. Hold My Hand. 7.27.18
Today completes my first two weeks of station to station radio tour. We are promoting my first single “Damage” to country radio. The first week consisted of my first visits to the Northeast coast… my first time ever to this region of the US! During the two hours I spent in New York City, it was pouring rain. My rep and I drug the 71lb keyboard case across the streets of downtown, saw Madison Square Garden and it was still absolutely beautiful in the pouring rain. That week I visited seven states in three days, and that might have been the wildest week of my life. I had amazing sushi and a coconut cake martini, my new favorite drink, in Boston. It was strange to hear northern accents for so many days in a row. It felt good to call mom and dad. Ha!
The week after that was the west coast… so an immediate 3 hour time change. And as far as the west coast goes, LA will always be one of my favorite places. It was VERY hot unfortunately, and I’m sweaty Betty, so thank the Lord for air conditioning. I also visited Seattle, WA and Portland, OR, which lived up to their reputations of being gorgeous and having great seafood. I had crab legs in Seattle, (best I’ve had so far), and barely missed a fish being quickly tossed across the room at the market. COME ON! In Portland, I played a piano that had also been graced by the hands of Sarah McLachlan, Paul McCartney, Melissa Etheridge, and Adele. What the what. At that event, a lady who owned a t-shop made me a shirt with “Rachel Wammack ‘Damage’” bedazzled across it. That was a crazy moment for me, and I’ll never forget that sweet woman and that event in Portland. I could definitely live there or Seattle honestly.
In between the east and west coast trips, I had a showcase in Atlanta at this amazing little dive bar. It was wonderful to meet so many great people from Atlanta, and also see many familiar faces. My sound guy had the greatest accent and made the sound in that room come to life. After my show, I quickly boarded a bus to see Lauren Alaina, Luke Combs, Hootie & the Blowfish, and Jason Aldean at Suntrust Park. Lauren Alaina had gotten engaged that day so she was literally crying happy tears on stage, and seeing Hootie do “Hold My Hand” was nuts!
So grateful. So thankful.
